Zumtobel Group lights up pavilions at Expo 2010

Thorn took full advantage of its new location at Frankfurt’s Light +Building Fair to reveal its most powerful LED story in years: the StyLED road lantern. The breakthrough design will be the first LED lantern capable of lighting major traffic routes that Thorn will market to municipalities when it becomes available this autumn.

2010 Zumtobel Group Awards go to Brazil and the USA

At a meeting at Roden Crater, Arizona (USA) in February, an international jury selected this year's winners of the Zumtobel Group Award for Sustainability and Humanity in the Built Environment. The Austrian lighting group's award, which carries a purse of EUR 140,000, honours sustainable solutions in architecture and engineering that make pioneering contributions to the future quality of life.

Lighting companies initiate LED light engine standardisation

An international group of companies from the lighting industry – including Acuity Brands Lighting, Cooper Lighting, OSRAM, Panasonic, Philips, Schréder, Toshiba, TRILUX and Zumtobel Group (Thorn's parent company) – is to initiate the formation of Zhaga, an industry-wide cooperation aimed at the development of standard specifications for the interfaces of LED light engines.
